Set Your Own Pace Along The Riverland's Waterways

As the weather warms up and the days become longer, it’s time to start planning your return to the Riverland. Whether you’re on a houseboat, dinghy or speedboat, there’s nothing better than getting out onto the water.

There is 375km of river running through the Riverland, with plenty of opportunities for your favourite water-based activity. Renmark has long been a popular spot for water skiing, wakeboarding and knee boarding. It’s best to bring your own boat to join in on the fun, however, houseboats are available for hire year-round if you’d prefer to travel lighter!

Hire a canoe or kayak in Berri and discover the creeks and backwaters weaving through the national parks for a truly unforgettable experience of the beauty and diversity of the Murray River.

Or take a step back in time with a Murray River cruise aboard a historic paddle steamer and experience the bygone era in Mannum. Sit back and relax on board the P.S. Marion for an afternoon and indulge in a delicious Devonshire tea served in the dining room. Watch on in awe as the crew work their magic in the art of steam engine operation to manoeuvre the 200 tonne heritage vessel.

If keeping dry on land is more your style, try your luck at the catch of the day! Callop, also known as golden perch or yellow belly is a great eating fish. And in the warmer months, yabbies can we found in the creeks and backwaters. At the end of the day, set up camp along the riverbanks and cook your catch on a campfire as the sunsets along the river.

Whatever your activity of choice may be, set your own pace along the Riverland’s waterways this Summer!
