Santos Tour Down Under 2018

Australia’s most anticipated cycling race the Santos Tour Down Under (TDU) returns to Adelaide this month. Cyclists will take on diverse landscapes through iconic South Australian destinations from Willunga Hill, Barossa, Adelaide Hills and Adelaide CBD across the 9-day cycling event.

Saturday 13 January

On Saturday 13 January, the 2018 Santos Tour Down Under Festival of Cycling kicks off in Victoria Square with a team presentation and free concert, from 6.30pm. For the first time ever, the riders of the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under and Santos Tour Down Under are all presented to the crowd. After which Adelaide’s very own ARIA Award Winning Guy Sebastian will take to the stage for a FREE evening concert.

Sunday 14 January

Get your lycra and helmets out, and come and join hundreds of families in the Bupa Family Ride. Test your ability and see how many laps you can do in an hour around the same track as the world’s cycling superstars, the People’s Choice Classic Circuit. Monday 15 January

Stage 1 of the Santos Tour Down Under sets off on Tuesday 16 January, so to celebrate bring the family to Lyndoch Village Green on Monday 15th from 5.30pm for a fun-filled Wheels on the Green. Settle in for an evening with live entertainment, a tone of children’s activities and of course a range of gourmet food and wine options, a must in the Barossa, before Stage 1 rolls through the Southern Barossa the next day!

Tuesday 16 January

Stage 1 of the Santos Tour Down Under departs from Port Adelaide taking us through the world-renowned Barossa Valley wine region, before encompassing three laps of the Southern Barossa and finishing in Lyndoch.

Unley Gourmet Gala

The celebrations don’t end once the last wheel is spun! So, grab your foodie friends, wine lovers, fashionistas and cycling enthusiasts and head to the Unley Gourmet Gala on Tuesday evening along King William Road. For its 18th year running, the Unley Gourmet Gala is will again showcase the best of SA from the finest food and wine to music, art and fashion. And in true TDU fashion, Stage 2 will head off from King William Road the following morning.

Wednesday 17 January

Stage 2 of the Santos Tour Down Under departs King William Road (Unley) near Bloomsbury Street intersection before heading out towards the Adelaide Hills via Tea Tree Gully, Oakbank and Mylor. The riders will complete three laps of Stirling before finishing on Mount Barker Road.

By night, be apart of the Glenelg Tour Street Party. Unwind and refresh after a day of racing beside the beach at Glenelg with food, fashion and live entertainment until late before Stage 3 pedals off in the morning.

Thursday 18 January

Stage 3 of the Santos Tour Down Under will take riders through the Fleurieu Peninsula and McLaren Vale.

Norwood on Tour Street Party is yet another free family-friendly event that will see families, foodies and cycling enthusiasts gathering on The Parade, where Stage 4 will depart the following morning.

Friday 19 January 2018

In Stage 4 of the Santos Tour Down Under riders will take on the famous Norton Summit between travelling from Norwood to Uraidla.

Hit107, and local radio stars Amos, Cat and Angus, take over the Santos Tour Down Under on Friday 19 January with an Old School House Party at the Adelaide City Council Tour Village in Victoria Square. Bring your dancing shoes and party until late to all your old school favourite tunes!

The final stage of the Santos Tour Down Under, Stage 6 will see the peloton race through the streets of Adelaide on this fast-paced circuit. Make sure you’re there road-side to see the first winner of the 2018 UCI WorldTour season is crowned.
