Gorge Wildlife Park

Spring has arrived and there’s no better time to get in touch with nature. Just a short 40-minute drive from Adelaide is Gorge Wildlife Park. Set upon 14 acres of land, Gorge Wildlife Park is the largest privately owned collection of Australian and exotic animals, birds and reptiles in the country.

The Park is home to many native Australian animals including kangaroos, koalas, dingos, Tasmanian devils, wombats, echidnas and more. It’s the perfect day trip for showing your international relatives an Australian experience.

The playful Capuchin monkeys are part of the exotic animal collection and are sure to put on quite the performance for their visitors.

Over 150 bird species inhabit the Park. Why not wander through the many parrot and cockatoo aviaries or spot the land birds as you roam the pathways. But don’t forget to look out for the birds of prey!

Outdoor reptile enclosures house blue-tongue lizards, sleepy lizards and tortoises, while inside the new reptile house rest exotic and native reptiles including common green iguanas, snakes, frogs and small marsupials.

The up close and personal wildlife experience allows visitors to feed kangaroos, cuddle a koala and enjoy photo opportunities with animals and birds that would otherwise be unapproachable in their wild habitat. Gorge Wildlife Park is one of few places in South Australia where you can hold, pat and have your photo taken with a koala. Don’t forget, on the last Sunday of each month between 12.30pm – 3.00pm keepers bring out a variety of animals, birds and reptiles for visitors to see up close (subject to weather conditions).

Gorge Wildlife Park is open every day between 9.00am – 5.00pm (expect Christmas Day). The perfect family day trip this Spring!
