A taste of the Riverland

One of the best things about travelling to new destinations is sampling the local produce in the region. That’s exactly what we love about visiting the Riverland, renowned for its fresh and locally made products using local-grown oranges, lemons, limes, mandarines and grapefruit, as well as plums, peaches, apricots, nectarines, almonds, and more. Next time you’re visiting the Riverland, don’t miss your chance to sample some of our favourite local products listed below!

AlmondCo

Did you know? More than 85% of Australia’s almond growers supply Almondco in SA’s Riverland. It’s at their almond-exclusive processing facility in Renmark that more than 100 almond products are produced everyday.

Visit the Almondco Almond Hut in Renmark and sample from over 80 different products, including tongue tingling flavoured almonds, tasty natural muesli, chocolate coated almonds, delicious almond paste, and much more.

Berri Estates Winery

Accolade’s Berri Estate winery is the largest grape processer in the Southern Hemisphere, crushing around 220,000 tonnes of grapes annually; around a third of South Australia’s entire crush. To put their size into perspective, Berri Estates boasts a storage capacity of over 263,000 million litres, within 1,500 tanks on-site and three automated production lines, which gives the winery the capability to produce up to 85,000 casks a day (give or take a few).

While driving along the Old Sturt Highway, between Berri and Barmera, you’ll find the Berri Estates Winery and Cellar Door. Stop by and enjoy a tasting in the cellar door!

But wait! The best is yet to come…

Twenty Third Street Distillery

The historic Twenty Third Street distillery, built in 1914, has been resurrected with twenty-first century technology. Visit the distillery and see the century-old copper stills, brought from cobwebbed disuse back to burnished glory. Or take part in a guided tour and tasting that will open your mind and your senses to new dimensions.

Best known for their gin range infused with locally grown citrus, we almost guarantee you’ll pick up a smooth treat to take away with you.

And for a taste of everything…
